Has anyone done this procedure? How long does it take - the same as a normal IVF cycle? |

Reply with quote | #2 | If you are referring to ICSI, it is done in conjunction with IVF. The difference is the procedure within the lab. Instead of simply layering the sperm on the eggs to allow for fertilization to take place, the sperm are individually injected into the egg to assist with fertilization. The IVF procedure then would usually take 6-8 weeks from start to finish depending on your situation.
Some male infertility can be overcome with just doing artificial insemination. This is a simple procedure that requires a sperm collection that is washed then placed into the uterus with a special catheter. |

I was actually referring to the Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). Do you have info on that? |

Frozen embryo transfer take 6-8 weeks from start to finish. It does requires some manipulation of your cycle to prepare. The lining needs to be ready for the embryo transfer, without interference from the ovaries. This is accomplished by using birth control pills to regulate the cycle and estrace to build the lining. There are only a few actual appointments involved and generally is 1/3-1/2 the cost. |
