I'm new at this so I hope I'm going about it the right way!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about 9 months now with no luck. I know that's not an extremely long time but I'm worried mostly because of my cycle.

I've been quite Irregular in my cycles for years but starting in 2008 my cycle length was 60 days pretty constantly. Now, the only time it is not 60 days, it's 30 days or 90 days.

I've never been to a doctor about it because, frankly I can't afford it yet. Hopefully in the next couple of months. But in the mean time I thought I'd throw my situation out there and see.

So I'm wondering, is it possible that one of my ovaries could be not working? I know that the ovaries switch off for ovulation but that it is different for every woman and is usually not on a set pattern.

(The only infertility problem in my family is my one sister who was diagnosed with PCOS last year but after changing diet and taking Clomid, she is now 8 months along! )

The best way to know if you have a fertility problem is to go to a doctor.  However if you cannot afford to go at this time you might want to try an ovulation kit.  Because your cycle is so long, it is hard to say if you are trying to get pregnant when you are actually ovulating. The kits are relatively inexpensive. You can find them at most stores by the pregnancy tests. Just folllow the directions on how to use them and they can help you predict when you are ovulating and pinpoint when you should be trying to get pregnant.
